چکیده

Abstract. Artificial impervious surface area (ISA) documents the human footprint. Accurate, timely, and detailed ISA datasets are therefore essential for global climate change studies urban planning. However, due to lack of sufficient training samples operational mapping methods, at a 10 m resolution still lacking. To this end, we proposed method leveraging multi-source geospatial data. Based on existing satellite-derived maps crowdsourced OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, 58 million were extracted via series temporal, spatial, spectral, geometric rules. We then produced dataset (GISA-10m) from over 2.7 Sentinel optical radar images Google Earth Engine platform. test that independent set, GISA-10m achieves an overall accuracy greater than 86 %. In addition, was comprehensively compared with datasets, superiority confirmed. The road further investigated, courtesy dataset. It found China US have largest areas road. rural be 2.2 times while 1.5 larger regions. accounts 14.2 % ISA, 57.9 which is located in top countries. Generally speaking, sampling able achieve rapid efficient mapping, potential detecting other land covers. also shown can improved by incorporating OSM could used as fundamental parameter system science, will provide valuable support planning water cycle study. freely downloaded https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5791855 (Huang et al., 2021a).

Mapping 2000-2010 Impervious Surface Change in India Using Global Land Survey Landsat Data

Understanding and monitoring the environmental impacts of global urbanization requires better urban datasets. Continuous field impervious surface change (ISC) mapping using Landsat data is an effective way to quantify spatiotemporal dynamics of urbanization. It is well acknowledged that Landsat-based estimation of impervious surface is subject to seasonal and phenological variations. The overal...

Subpixel Impervious Surface Mapping

Identified by the EPA as the leading threat to surface water quality in the United States, nonpoint source (NPS) pollution is channeled into rivers and streams via impervious surfaces. Impervious surfaces are anthropogenic features, such as roads, buildings, and parking lots, through which water cannot infiltrate into the soil. Research from the past 15 years shows a consistent, inverse relatio...

Impervious surface mapping in Southern Norway

* Corresponding author. Abstract – Impervious surfaces are mapped by applying regression tree classification on Landsat ETM+ data of Østfold County located in Southern Norway. Reference data consist of high precision polygon vector data of roads, parking lots and buildings for a selected region (Fredrikstad Municipality) within the study area. The output from the classification using the regres...

Flood hazard mapping in an urban area using combined hydrologic-hydraulic models and geospatial technologies

Flooding is one of the most occurring natural hazards every year risking the lives and properties of the affected communities, especially in Philippine context. To visualize the extent and mitigate the impacts of flood hazard in Malingon River in Valencia City, Bukidnon, this paper presents the combination of Geographic Information System, high-resolution Digital Elevation Model, land cover, so...

Impervious surface mapping with Quickbird imagery.

This research selects two study areas with different urban developments, sizes, and spatial patterns to explore the suitable methods for mapping impervious surface distribution using Quickbird imagery. The selected methods include per-pixel based supervised classification, segmentation-based classification, and a hybrid method. A comparative analysis of the results indicates that per-pixel base...
